Amy Schumer – everybody’s favourite spirit animal and Hollywood funny lady – has ditched one book deal and picked up another, while negotiating a hefty pay rise along the way.

Schumer originally signed a book deal two years ago with HarperCollins for a cool $1 million. Back then she was an emerging stand up comedian that showed promise, but hadn’t yet catapulted to fame.

Over the following year, Schumer slowly chipped away at the book with the help of The New Yorker’s Patricia Marx. However, she eventually called it off in 2014 and returned the advance as she was ‘too busy’.

Fast forward to 2015 and Schumer is one of Hollywood’s most recognisable faces. On the back of her recent success, insiders within the publishing industry are reporting that she has negotiated a fresh book deal with Simon & Schuster for more than $8 million.

Earlier this year, Schumer told GQ, "I had a whole deal, but I decided to wait — I thought I would make more money if I waited." Turns out, she was right.

In this instance, Schumer managed to lean in so far that her nose nearly touched the ground. Sheryl Sandberg would be proud.
