Our love affair with all things Sex and the City and Carrie Bradshaw might have turned out a *whole* lot different if Sarah Jessica Parker had gotten her way.

In a new interview with Seth Rudetsky for Playbill, SJP revealed that she wasn't interested in doing another TV show, after having just starred on the 1980s sitcom Square Pegs.

However thanks to a strong script, the actress agreed to film the pilot, not expecting it to be picked up.

"Months later she found out the show was picked up and she completely wanted to get out of it," writes Rudetsky.

"I mean, completely. She really didn't want to be tied down to one job because she loved going from gig to gig and being, what she called, a 'journeyman.' She tried various ways to get out of it including telling HBO that she would film three projects for free if they'd release her from her contract!"

Thankfully they convinced her to play the role that changed her life - and ours - for the better.

In other exciting SATC news, SJP also revealed during the interview that "there may be a project coming up involving all the ladies!".
