Jessica Alba Wants You To Stop Comparing Her To Gwyneth Paltrow

On paper their stories read quite similar, both successful actresses, both mums, and both the heads of lucrative lifestyle empires.

But that's where the similarities end and Jessica Alba believes it's sexist to continually compare her to Gwyneth Paltrow.

"What I think is unfair is to lump actresses together," the 34-year-old mother-of-two tells Allure.

"People aren't lumping Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher together. They do other businesses. I think it's expected that when you get success in one area, you're supposed to evolve and try to do something else — especially in business, and especially if you're a man."

Jess' comments come after an interview Gwyneth did with Time recently where she referred to such comparisons as “slightly misogynistic”.

"I wonder if George Clooney would be asked about Puff Daddy’s ancillary liquor line,” the GOOP founder said.

"I’m fascinated how the media in particular are so confounded by entrepreneurial women doing something outside of their box,” she added.

“Jessica [Alba], especially, who’s a friend of mine—our businesses could not be more different. There’s not a lifestyle piece to her business. The fundamentals of our sites are very different. Reese launched—our businesses have similarities, but hers has retail.”
