From the people who taught us about vagina steaming, sex dust and the importance of reducing the negativity from your water, now comes squatting in the shower to pee.

In a new post on Gwyneth Paltrow's website Goop, they investigate the pelvic floor muscle and share tips and exercises to strengthen it.

Lauren Roxburgh, who they describe as their "go-to fascia and structural integrative specialist", describes the pelvic floor as one of the "body’s primary stress containers.”

“That pit in the base of your stomach is your pelvic floor in permanent clutch," Roxburgh adds. "Adore your pelvic floor. It’s the key to great sex, a flat tummy, and the key to never laying in a supply of Depends.”

In a series of exercises and recommendations for strengthening the pelvic floor, the site suggests readers try peeing in the shower squatting down:

When you squat to pee as opposed to sitting up straight on the toilet, you automatically engage your pelvic floor and it naturally stretches and tones. Because your urethra is pointed straight down in this position all you have to do is relax for urine to flow out easily—as opposed to sitting up straight and having to strain to empty your bladder.

However if you're not sure if squatting in the shower is for you, fear not for your pelvic floor, as Gwyn and her Goop-ers also have a number of exercise you can try - and they also recommend a good old roll around in the sack.

"Having sex is not only fun, but it’s great for your body, mind, spirit, and pelvic floor—and it helps you exist in the moment."
