Full House enthusiasts, we have some bad news for you.

When the beloved ‘90s sitcom returns in a much-talked about Netflix reboot in 2016, two key cast members won’t be there. That’s right: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – forever immortalised as pint-sized sass machine Michelle Tanner – won’t be in the remake.

The news won’t be a surprise to many, who noted that the Olsen twins are pretty busy young women: between helming three fashion lines, licensing perfumes and landing themselves on best-dressed lists the world over, they don’t have much time to appear in television series these days. In fact, Mary-Kate and Ashley famously turned their back on showbusiness three years ago, choosing to dedicate themselves to building their fashion empire.

But that doesn’t mean the news hasn’t affected their fellow Full House cast members. John Stamos (or Uncle Jesse Tanner, as we fondly remember him) tweeted the following message over the weekend:

In a later tweet, Stamos – who remains friends with the Olsen twins to this day, even inviting the pair to his recent 50th birthday celebrations in New York – said he accepted the Olsen twins were in a “different place” now and didn’t want to return to acting.
