Can you see Margot Robbie in this image? What about Cara Delevingne? How about Will Smith, can you see him? Of course, you must be able to see Jai Courtney, Aussie it-boy and Hollywood darling? No?

Don’t worry, you’re not alone. The first picture from Warner Bros’ Suicide Squad – an ambitious rendering of DC Comics’ beloved series of the same name following the antics and hijinks of a group of twisted super villains known as Task Force X – is like a game of Where’s Wally. You know the stars are there, you just can’t quite make them out.

The image was released today on director David Ayer's twitter. Jai Courtney is second from left as Captain Boomerang. Next to him is Cara Delevingne (her villain’s name is Enchantress). Skip along and there’s Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, a psychologist and enemy of Batman who is also romantically entangled with The Joker. Next to her is her old co-star Will Smith, strangely unrecognisable with no hair as the armour clad assassin Deadshot.

Missing from the cast picture is Jared Leto, who is taking up the iconic Batman villain The Joker (complete with tattoos and a shock of green hair). Ben Affleck’s revamped Batman is said to cameo, as is Jesse Eisenberg. Also missing from the picture – but sure to make a big impact onscreen – is Viola Davis, who plays Amanda Waller, Task Force X’s government handler who offers these super villains a chance at redemption, if, and only if, they can complete a series of dangerous missions.

The film is currently filming in Canada and is set for release in August next year. It’s certainly no Avengers – it looks considerably darker – but we have to say, this image has already got us excited.
