Kendall Jenner Says People Laughed When She Said She Wanted To Be A Model

Kendall Jenner has faced some harsh criticism in recent years, but it seems she's having the last laugh now.
The model opened up to V magazine about her early career days, saying designers shunned her because of her last name.
"You have no idea how many doors closed on me and how many adults were either initially reluctant to take a chance working with me or who outright laughed at me behind my back," she said.
"It was kind of hard because all I was doing was going on go-sees, trying my best to break into this business as a teenager. I am so grateful to Marc Jacobs, Riccardo Tisci, Karl Lagerfeld, and Katie Grand, who took a chance on me that first season and gave me an opportunity. My parents taught me that work ethic is one of the most important keys in life, and I believe it."
Jenner has always been careful to keep her modelling career separate from her family name, even going so far as to ban sister Kim Kardashian from certain runway shows.
"Kim was invited to a lot of the shows that I was in," Jenner said. "She called me before and was like, 'Hey, I was invited to the show, I just wanted to let you know. Do you want me to come?' and I was like, 'No.' I want to be high fashion. I want to be taken seriously."
Jenner seems to have lifted the ban of late, but she has enforced a "no cameras" policy at Fashion Week.
