Florence Welch in the video clip for 'St.Jude'

Excited for Florence and the Machine’s new album in June? Here’s something to tide you over until the record’s release on June 2: the film clip for their second single from the album ’St. Jude’.

Directed by Vincent Haycock – who has worked with everyone from Calvin Harris to Paul McCartney - the clip follows a wandering, drenched lead singer Florence Welch as she makes her way through a jungle of suburban ruins. The purple-stained skies and the song title alludes to to the storm of the same name, which made its way through northern Europe in 2013, as well as the patron saint of the impossible.

It’s the second video clip that the British indie-rock band have released recently, following on from the dark narrative-style short for their first single ‘What Kind Of Man’. With two singles already out, anticipation for the album is high. So far, the sound is reminiscent of the band’s highly successful first album, Lungs, which saw the folk rockers catapulted to international acclamation.
