Celebrities Doing The Ice Bucket Challenge

It’s the latest charity craze that is sweeping Hollywood. To raise awareness for ALS – Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, a degenerative and incurable disease – people are challenging each other to dump buckets of ice water over themselves, then share the videos on social media.

All your favourite celebrities are getting involved. Scroll down for some highlights:

David Beckham: who took one for the team and did it shirtless, nominated Leonardo DiCaprio, Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.

Kate Upton: the superstar model (and Forbes 5th richest model of 2013) did the challenge with her boyfriend Justin Verlander, nominating Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann and Bobbi Brown to take the challenge.

Lady Gaga: who sat perfectly poised on a wicker chair while doing the challenge.

Tom Hiddleston: who was nominated by TV star Nathan Fillion, nominated Benedict Cumberbatch and Luke Evans.

Oprah: pulled out the big guns and challenged Stephen Spielberg and Dame Helen Mirren to take on the ice bucket challenge.

Ben Affleck: not only did the challenge but donated to the cause. He challenged people he knew “from firsthand experience” look good in a wet tee shirt – Jimmy Kimmel, Neil Patrick Harris, Matt Damon, but before he got to nominate his wife Jennifer Garner, she dumped the ice water on top of him.

Gisele Bundchen: upped the fashion stakes and nominated Mario Testino, Anna Wintour and Shakira.

Mario Testino: accepted the challenge and took it with good grace, even leaving his sunglasses on. He challenged Donatella Versace and Kate Moss.

It’s not just for a-listers. You can take part in the challenge and nominate some of your friends to get involved, all it takes is a bucket of ice water and a strong constitution.
