Why Chrissy Teigen And John Legend Chose To Have A Girl

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have been open about their struggles to conceive and their journey with IVF, and now the Sports Illustrated model has revealed why they chose a female embryo.

"I've made this decision," the 30-year-old mother-to-be told People. "Not only am I having a girl, but I picked the girl from her little embryo. I picked her and was like, 'Let's put in the girl.'"

As for what swayed her decision, she says she is keen to have a boy as well, but admitted that the thought of her hubby being the father to a little girl first "excited" her.

"I think I was most excited and allured by the fact that John would be the best father to a little girl. That excited me," she added.

"It excited me to see…just the thought of seeing him with a little girl. I think he deserves a little girl. I think he deserves that bond. A boy will come along. We'll get there too, so it's not like we really have to pick. But he definitely is very lucky to have a little girl. And this girl is going to be so completely lucky to have John as her papa—it's crazy!"

As the pair prepare to become parents for the first time, Chrissy also revealed that they've been getting some practice on their beloved pooch, Putty.

"Putty our bulldog was John's first dog ever. He never suspected he could love something like that ever, so it's so funny seeing him interact with them and knowing that's the way he's going to speak to our kid."

That said, there's no baby-talk for the Grammy-winning crooner...

"John's very big on full sentences and not doing baby talk. Even when he's talking to the dog he's like, ‘Putty, you need to go outside and use the restroom today.' And I'm like, ‘What the f*ck, it's a dog! You're crazy!'"

Following her comments on selecting a gender for her baby girl, a number of critics have come out blasting her decision. Chrissy was quick to take to Twitter to hit back at the haters.
