It’s just one week since Eddie Redmayne charmed Hollywood with his bumbling Academy Award acceptance speech, but the 33-year-old actor is already back at work. His first post-Oscar role? Lili Elbe, a Danish artist who was also the first transgender woman to undergo sex reassignment surgery.

The film, entitled The Danish Woman, will co-star Alicia Vikander (one of marie claire's girls to watch in 2015) as Elbe’s wife Gerda, and will be directed by Tom Hooper, who last worked with Redmayne on Les Miserables. Nicole Kidman was originally slated to star, but the actress dropped out of the project last year, making room for Redmayne to come on board.

Speaking to British newspaper The Telegraph, Redmayne revealed that he was working with Alexander Reynolds, the same movement director who helped him inhabit Stephen Hawkin’s body in The Theory of Everything.

“[It’s] an extraordinary love story,” Redmayne said of the film. “There’s extraordinary bravery, and brilliant people that I’ve met [in the transgender community]."

This film is practically made to generate awards season buzz. Could this part win Redmayne his second Oscar in as many years?
