Yahoo Lifestyle Beyonce References Elevator-Gate In New Remix
Beyonce has dropped a remix of her hit-single "Flawless" from her eponymous album Beyonce, and buried amid the self-affirmations ("I woke up like this", "You wish I was your baby mamma") is a subtle reference to the rumours that her marriage with Jay-Z is on the rocks. "We escalatin," Beyonce sings, "Of course, sometimes s**t goes down when there's a billion dollars on an elevator."
The new lyrics reportedly allude to the infamous elevator-brawl between Jay-Z and Solange Knowles at New York's The Standard Hotel after this year's Met Gala. The footage, which showed Solange trying to kick Jay-Z before being restrained by a bodyguard, was leaked to the media and went viral.
Since Elevator-gate the rumour mill has been predicting the imminent break down of Mr and Mrs Carter's million-dollar marriage. Both Beyonce and Jay-Z have stayed silent on the subject and continue to tour as a duo in their sold-out "On The Run: Beyonce and Jay-Z" tour.
