Royal Wedding: Kate Middleton Wears Alexander McQueen

The rumours have finally been put to rest, with official confirmation that Catherine Middleton wore an Alexander McQueen embroidered lace dress to wed Prince William today. Designed by Alexander McQueen creative director Sarah Burton, the elegant long-sleeved lace dress cut a neat V at the front before plunging into a contouring bodice of lace. The full-skirted gown was anchored by a two metre long train, which Middleton seemingly handled with ease.

The reveal marks an end to months of speculation regarding the creator of the dress, with designers such as Vivienne Westwood, Stella McCartney and Bruce Oldfield all fueling guesswork. But Burton was named the front runner this afternoon, when a photo appeared on the internet of the designer shielding her face as she dashed into Middleton's hotel for a last-minute fitting.

The revelation has also sparked further speculation that Burton may step into the position of creative director at Dior.
