Thierry Mugler Appoints New Creative Director

The rumours have been circling for months, but now it's official - Lady Gaga's stylist, Nicola Formichetti, has been appointed the new Creative Director of Thierry Mugler.

According to Mugler, Formichetti was chosen for the role because "he represents a new direction in French fashion and is on the cutting edge of international pop culture".

In turn, Formichetti told WWD, "Thierry Mugler is about the power of glamour and walking straight into the future. He's been a god for successive generations in the fashion industry. He fused pop and high fashion, told a story in style and combined fantasy with reality. My approach is personal and always very eclectic. I'd like to find new ways for a luxury brand such as Thierry Mugler to excite people."

Formichetti currently counts Lady Gaga, Scarlett Johansson and Robert Pattinson amongst his celebrity clients.

In related news, Lady Gaga has inked a deal with Coty to produce a series of fragrances, with the first one due out in Spring 2012.
