Karl Lagerfeld’s Cat Makes More Money Than You Do

Chanel's creative director owns one very pampered feline named Choupette - and despite doing very little besides eating and sleeping (you know, all the usual cat stuff) she still managed to make $3.22 million last year.

"She did two jobs and made 3 million euros last year," Lagerfeld told NY Mag. "One was for cars in Germany and the other was for a Japanese beauty product. I don't allow her to do foodstuffs and things like this. She's too sophisticated for that."

Lagerfeld, who treats Choupette like she's his human child, added that she's the centre of his world.

"She is like a human being, but the good thing is that she's silent," explained Lagerfeld. "You don't have to discuss it. She hates other animals and she hates children. She stays always with me and she has two personal maids. They play with her, they have to take care of her beautiful white hair, the beauty treatments for her eyes, and they entertain her."

Considering all the pampering she's privy to, we imagine other celebrity felines like Grumpy Cat might be annoyed at Choupette's overnight success - but Lagerfeld's cat is unphased by all the attention.

"Him and me, it's forever," Choupette said in a recent interview. "We leave the bourgeoisie formalities to the others."
