Daily Diary: Milan Fashion Week Day Two

Day two started off with the Max Mara show, which was dominated by a huge screen bursting with rolling waves over a sandy beach.

Models came out wrapped in quintessential Max Mara camel coats, with wavy hair and make up referencing iconic images of Marilyn Monroe. Think seamed nude hosiery and sexy pencil skirts, as well as cable knits. Gigi Hadid, with her cherubic face, heroed the look perfectly.

Next up was Fendi, where Australian model Julia Nobis in an ivory leather dress was a stand out. The collection was modern - but there were plenty of retro silhouettes. Cropped, kicked-out pants worn under tunics were popular (and seem to be a strong theme throughout many of the shows). As usual there was plenty of leather and fur; a Fendi signature - but not so relevant to Australia!

Prada was lovely, all sorbet tones, colored tweeds, long leather gloves and sweet dresses. It was a young collection - but there were so many pieces to fall in love with. I can’t wait to see the collection close up tomorrow.

The lovely Sally Pitt of Giorgio Armani took us to Nobu for dinner - such a treat, a place where the food is exceptional but the people watching is even better.

The biggest trends on the street? Flared jeans and pants, socks with shoes, flats and shoulder strap bags.
