It might turn out more collections than we can count every year, but apparently Chanel isn't keeping Karl Lagerfeld busy enough.

The design maestro just announced that he'll be launching his own kidswear line in spring 2016 (autumn in Australia), which will comprise ready-to-wear and accessories suitable for newborns to 16-year-olds.

"The announcement reflects the brand's ongoing commitment to newness and will allow Karl Lagerfeld to share its ironic, playful, creative vision with a young audience," said a statement from the brand.

"The Karl Lagerfeld Kidswear collection presents a unique opportunity to share our cool, ironic, iconic DNA with a wider Karl Lagerfeld audience. Due to our brand's wide appeal our expansion into the juniors market is a natural fit to further enhance our reach."

Despite his age (81), Lagerfeld has always been able to maintain a sense of 'nowness' in the industry via his model muses. From Cara Delevingne to Kendall Jenner, Lagerfeld has nabbed some of the most in-demand faces in the world for his shows - and that includes his 6-year old godson, Hudson Kroenig, who regularly walks the runway for Chanel. We can't wait to see him open his first show!
