Elizabeth Taylor’s First Wedding Dress For Sale
Elizabeth Taylor’s first wedding dress is set to be auctioned by Christie’s in London later this month.
Designed by MGM costumier Helen Rose, the iconic ivory dress with fifteen-yard satin train took a team of 15 people approximately three months to make.

Embellished with bugle beads and seed pearls, it also features a built-in corset measuring just 20-inches at the waist.
In 1950, then 18-year old Taylor was just a year away from her Oscar nomination for “A Place In The Sun” when she married hotel heir Conrad Hilton.
The marriage lasted just eight months, but Rose’s design skills had a far-reaching effect in the fashion industry: she also created Grace Kelly’s iconic wedding gown, which in turn inspired the Duchess of Cambridge to emulate a similar design.
If the $73,000 price tag isn’t quite within your budget, it’s likely there will be a few more of Taylor’ s wedding dress on the market over the coming years – after all, the actress was married eight times over the course of her lifetime.
“I am a very committed wife,” Taylor once joked. “And I should be committed, too—for being married so many times.”
