Heidi Klum knows a thing or two about body confidence: after all, not only was she once a Victoria's Secret Angel, but she now owns a namesake lingerie label, Heidi Klum Intimates.

Klum might have built a career out of her body, but she admits her real inspiration is
Kim Kardashian.

"Kim Kardashian changed the look in the fashion industry, which is amazing," Klum told marie claire UK. "I know that other women love to be more curvy - at the end of the day you have to live in a body that you feel comfortable in and that you love."

Klum added that she's always had body confidence, which she expects to carry with her in later life.

"I'm probably not going to be a lingerie model when I'm 60, but who knows - there have been a lot of amazing campaigns this season featuring older women," Klum said. "However old I get though, I'll always be body confident. It's just the way I am, I'm happy in my skin."

Klum said the secret behind her successful career was her ability to adapt to situations quickly.

"You just have to be confident and have your body ready, always," said the supermodel. "You never know what outfit you'll be asked to wear on a shoot - they may say it's a fashion story and then hand you a bikini. I always have to be ready to take off my clothes - imagine if I wasn't prepared."

Klum's foray into the lingerie world was first announced in October last year as Macpherson's team confirmed she was looking to broaden her market in the US.

"I have many companies that come to me, but I wanted to be with someone who was as big as them, as established as them, as successful as them," Klum explained of the partnership. "It wasn't me knocking at the door saying I want to take over. It was offered to me."

Klum's significant social media profile reportedly helped the model seal the deal - with 2.5 million Twitter followers, she was an obvious choice.

"I feel like with all the social media that I have, with the campaigns that we do, I hope that people will hear that I took over and I hope that they're happy about it," Klum told WWD.
