Daily Diary: Milan Fashion Week Days Three & Four

Day three down and what a full day it was! First stop was the Gucci re-see (where we go to the showroom and “re-see” the runway pieces up close). The floral print dresses and suiting, the fine lace, pleated leather skirts and loafers with fluffy trim, were all so sweet and nostalgic. Each look told its own poetic little story.

At Emporio Armani purple and red - which we’ve seen a lot on the runway this season - was a strong theme. I also loved the grey suiting, which opened the show. A floral velvet suit (yes, you read that right) was also divine!

Then it was a race across town to make it to Sportmax, which offered up a cosy collection of luxe knits and blanket trims, all wrapped around an army of gorgeously cast girls. As the show progressed, knitwear gave way to floral prints and guipure florals to add a touch of whimsy.

Bally's accessories are looking strong, and the Ready To Wear was gorgeous: all warm autumnal tones of olive, tan, ivory, red and (once again) purple.

Often at fashion week, the setting can almost rival the collections - and today we saw Bvlgari's beautiful handbags at the stunning Bvlgari hotel. Meanwhile, Tod's collection was shown in a 17th-century ornate palace - which proved to be a stark contrast to the modernity of the collection. As always a super-chic collection made up of great belted coats and neat loafers. Who doesn’t want to be a Tods girl right now? Here's a behind the scenes peek at what i mean.

The last show was Versace, the room painted bright red and packed to the rafters, the girls powering down the runway in bright red, yellow and green looks and thigh-high boots. It was so very Versace! Karlie Kloss looked amazing, that girl can walk! She glides along to a different beat, amazing to watch.

Day four it’s been a busy weekend, so here’s a snapshot of my highlights…

Jil Sander was terrific - filled with sophisticated clothes that were all very wearable. There was a strong message about silhouette, with lots of wide-leg pants and 3/4 length skirts and coats.

Marni, gorgeous as always, was another highlight, with layering and boot-cut pants to die for. The hair, make-up and earrings all combined to help make it one of my favourite shows of the week

Dolce and Gabbana is always fun - and never more so this time around when their focus was on the “precious Mamma”. The show was gorgeous, with many models holding babies, and other pregnant. Even the invitations featured drawings by children. It was such a joyous and spirited show.

And a list of highlights wouldn’t be complete with mentioning the cocktail party we attended at Antonia boutique to celebrate the launch of Giorgio Armani's new bag Le Sac. A very chic way to end our Sunday.
