Alannah Hill Making A Comeback

Just a month after Lisa Ho announced she's bringing her label back comes the welcome news that Alannah Hill is also plotting a new line.

The Australian fashion designer, who made the decision to leave her eponymous namesake label in August after a long-running dispute with the brand’s parent company, Faxtory X, told the Sydney Morning Herald that she plans to unroll an online boutique called Louise Love.

Following a long-standing spat, Hill’s former boss, David Heeney, now owns the rights to her name, a move the designer said left her “inconsolable”.

But that isn’t stopping Hill from moving on: while she is no longer able to operate under Alannah Hill, the name Louise Love is a nod to her middle name. And, says Hill, she has no plans to stray from the signature aesthetic that built her brand into a national success.

“(It) will be very similar (to Alannah Hill). I can't be phoney … It will be an evolution of what I used to do; new and modern and special,” said Hill of Louise Love.

She will reportedly begin with a limited range of garments, available online by mid-year, then expand into accessories. Hill then plans to make the move back into the physical retail space with a series of stores.

Hill said she was deeply saddened to leave the Alannah Hill label behind, adding, “I was completely devoted to my label and all that it represents to girls Australia-wide. My heart, my soul, my every little thing has been poured into creating a brand for girls who love and share my vision of ornamental, sensational and beautiful clothes.”

Hill’s dream from the very beginning was to create clothes that “radiate joy and the power of transformation”.

“Thank you to all the wonderful people who have supported me along the way,” said the designer. “Your dedication and love, quite sincerely, has meant the world to me.”
