Prince Frederik and Princess Mary have had a busy few days: from touring the fire ravaged landscape of the Blue Mountains to witnessing the 40th birthday spectacle of the Opera House, their visit to Sydney has been nothing short of jam-packed.

Today, the Crown Couple made an appearance at the Sofitel in Sydney to award ECCO shoes with the diploma of the Danish Export Association and HRH Prince Henrick’s Medal of Honour.

Reserved for brands that make an outstanding effort to promote and market Danish services abroad, the medal is awarded by a judging committee that includes a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“We are honoured to receive this award,” said Dieter Kasprzak, CEO of ECCO Group. “It will serve as inspiration for ECCO in our daily work and remind us how important it is to keep an international outlook with local presence.”

The Crown Couple were in high spirits at the intimate event, with Frederik chatting amicably with the Danish ambassador and Mary looking stunning in a cap-sleeve white dress.

Their relaxed attitude was in stark contrast to the amount of police surrounding the hotel and the official rules list given to guests in attendance (“When you speak to the Crown Couple,” it read, “you must nod or courtesy and address them in one of two ways only...”)

Unfortunately there was no time for small talk: the couple stayed just long enough for Frederik to officially award ECCO with their award before jetting off to their next engagement.
