The Devil Wears Prada Sequel Secrets Revealed

Ten years after the launch of The Devil Wears Prada, author Lauren Weisberger is back with the highly anticipated sequel.

Fans of the fictional book, which was reportedly based on Weisberger's time at Vogue US working under Anna Wintour, will be happy to note that protaganist Andy Sachs (played by Anne Hathaway in the movie) has exacted "revenge" on Miranda Priestly (played by Meryl Steep): she's now Editor-in-chief of a heavy-hitting bridal magazine.

But it seems Weisberger hasn't been too lenient on Andy, with the author stating, “It’s true, I definitely throw a lot of obstacles in her way, and that’s how you see what kind of character she is and how she reacts. Just speaking strictly from a writing standpoint, that was deliberate. And I hope I didn’t make her suffer too much!”

Weisberger told fashionista.com that while the book has moved away from the fashion industry, with the focus now on writing and travel, the tenuous dynamic between the characters remains. Fans of Emily Blunt's pretentious character, who repeatedly clashed with Andy in the movie, will be happy to note her return to the sequel.

"One of the reasons I wanted to write the sequel was because when I was thinking about this whole Runway world, Emily was the best part of it," explained Weisberger. "She was my most favorite character, and I just thought it would be great to reunite [her with Andy]. The movie did such a great job with her, and Emily Blunt was so fantastic, she had all the best lines."

While a second movie is yet to be confirmed, Streep and Blunt have both expressed interest in reprising their roles.

“What Meryl said was she’d do it if she didn’t have to lose the f***ing weight, that was her quote," said Blunt. “And I’d probably say the same because they made me lose weight for that. I feel with sequels you can be in tricky territory because that movie was so special and cool, so we’ll see if everyone else wants to do it.”
