Trend: Bright Beauty

This season the runways were awash with a spectrum of bold colours, as make-up artists traded muted tones and barely there looks in favour of palettes packed full of fuchsia pink, opulent orange, vibrant violet and cobalt blue.

"Colour is fantasy – it creates uniqueness," enthuses Tom Pecheux, Estée Lauder creative make-up director. And there's no need to be afraid of experimenting with striking shades. "Make-up is playful and versatile; you can do whatever you like with it," he explains.

His tip is to start by testing out bright tones at night, just before you wash your face. Try a hint at first, whether it's a wash of lavender across your lids, or a coral tint on your lips or cheeks. Once you feel confident, you can amp it up.

"But don't change your make-up for the first time before a special moment. Always try it before!" he stresses.
