Rachael Finch's beauty stash

Are you a skincare, makeup, fragrance or hair girl?
Definitely skincare and makeup. I like playing with new products to see what works best for my face and skin, and I think it's important to change your skincare regime as your face changes with age. I'm a big believer in following a healthy diet and lifestyle for great skin but I also know that balancing this with a good skincare routine is hugely beneficial. I really love the Boots Laboratories Optiva Aqua Capture Serum, which leaves my skin feeling hydrated.

What’s your go-to weekday beauty look?
I wear makeup most days for work so throughout the week, if I'm not shooting, I keep my makeup to a minimum. I might use some concealer or powder, curl my lashes and add mascara. If we head out for lunch or dinner with friends, I’ll use a soft blush and lip gloss.

And your after-hours style?
My favourite look is glowing, flawless skin with lush lashes. When I'm getting made up for an event I always find myself asking for a dewy complexion with eyes that pop. Occasionally I like to change it up with a bold lip and that feels sexy, but I like to keep it pretty simple with mascara and a good foundation. Colour Theory have a great selection of mascaras to choose from (defining, lengthening, plumping and waterproof) and I usually use two together.

You’re a certified health coach - how does that factor into your beauty routine?
I think everything we put in our body impacts what we see on the outside. Every day I eat lots of vegetables in a variety of colours, drink plenty of fresh water and limit any toxic or processed foods. I love a treat every now and then, which may be some dark chocolate or a glass of red wine, but I feel and perform my best when I eat clean. I try to do something physically challenging every day, swim in the ocean as much as possible, get lots of sleep and think positive.

Are there any tips or tricks you picked up during your beauty pageant days that you still use today?
We used hairspray to stick our swimwear to our bum while walking on the runway in the competition, but I don't use that trick nowadays. I think the best thing I learnt was how to get ready quickly. We had to do our own grooming throughout the competition, so I had to learn how to apply makeup and do my hair in about 30 minutes. The longer I took, the less sleep I got.
