Gwyneth Paltrow's Beauty Rules

Gwyneth Paltrow's beauty rules.

I don't do anything first thing in the morning. I wake up and splash my face with water and then I'm racing off with kids and making lunch and the school run, and then I go to the gym. For a night out, I do mascara and maybe some lip gloss - that's about as far as I go.

I drink a lot of water and fresh coconut water. My skin tends to be dry, so I try to keep it hydrated, and I get a facial once a month with Sonya Dakar in LA. I relish my time in the facialist bed.

I get manis and pedis whenever I have the time. I either do nude or red polish. I'm very boring. [But they're classic colours.] Right - boring!

I try to condition my hair and use oils. I exercise every day and get a lot of sweat in my hair, so I put a leave-in conditioner in and tie it up. I also try not to use too many hot irons and blow-dryers as I have bleach in it and I don't want it to break off.

I exercise five days a week. It is the one thing that I do the most that has changed my life the most.

I'm always buying ankle boots. [Haven't you found the perfect pair?] I have many perfect pairs! I don't know - it's my thing. I can't stop. The last ones I bought were from Chloe.

I have my father's wedding ring. I wear that on a chain most days.

I was really into online shopping when it first started. I like ssense.com a lot. They have a really good buyer and are chic. That's the only site I still shop from.

Top shelf I rotate between a La Prairie moisturiser and one from Sonya Dakar. I have two Max Factor mascaras: Clump Defy, $24.95, and Masterpiece Transform, $23.95, for evening [Paltrow is an ambassador for the brand]. Orofluido Beauty Elixir, $49.95, is my favourite hair oil. I always carry By Terry Baume de Rose, $84, lip balm in my bag. I work for Hugo
Boss and I really like their perfumes, so I've been wearing that a lot lately.

Fast five

Next holiday: I’m dying to go to the new Aman hotel in Venice.
Last meal: Probably a lobster roll and French fries.
Indulgence: Definitely a glass of wine. And I try to get a massage when I can.
Currently reading: I’m halfway through The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt. It’s really good so far.
Coffee or tea? I’m a dedicated and lifelong coffee drinker, and I always will be.
