Mariah Carey Reveals She Doesn't Own Any Sneakers: 'I Wear Slippers'
The "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer claims the casual shoes give her blisters
Mariah Carey doesn’t do sneakers.
During an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show this week, the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" singer revealed she prefers heels to sneakers after host Jennifer Hudson asked, “What's the most casual item of clothing in your closet?”
“Probably some hideous slides that someone made me purchase,” replied the 54-year-old. “Because I don't own sneakers —”
Hudson quickly interjected to confirm what she heard, “You don’t?”
“No, I don't. Because I get a blister on the back of my foot.” Hudson then asked the Grammy winner if she prefers heels over sneakers.
Carey clarified, “Well, that's the problem, heels hurt too. So I don't really know what to do.”
“I bet you could get around better in the heels?” asked the Oscar winner.
Carey explained that it's easier for her to wear heels because she’s someone who “no matter what” walks on her toes. “I've always done that. So it's kind of a thing.” She then added, “I wear slippers!”
Carey has developed a reputation for showing off glamorous looks in unexpected places. Most notably in 2017, she proved she really doesn’t own sneakers and opted to hit the gym in a pair of stilettos.
In an Instagram post from Rihanna, the “Always Be My Baby” songstress is seen at the gym in the “Disturbia” singer’s Savage x Fenty clothing brand. But Carey paired the look with a pair of white leather bootie stilettos.

More recently, the “Obsessed” singer brought her glamour to a Christmas-themed photo shoot for her Victoria’s Secret campaign.
In promotional shots for the brand’s new holiday campaign, the songstress showed off the candy-cane-red-colored items.
“I like that the different pieces I wore have different vibes to them—some are cozy and festive, and others are more sexy and playful,” she told Vogue. “One of my favorite looks was the gold set with these beautiful, intricate embellishments. It really felt like holiday glamour when I put it on.”

In addition to the singer’s latest collaboration, she confirmed in an interview with Good Morning America that she’s back in the studio again and has “new music on the horizon.”
“I've been working the past three, four weeks on just writing new songs,” shared the singer. “We were in the studio working on something with a choir, working on a new song,” the pop icon added. “So it's exciting."
