Margaret Qualley Exits Hulu’s Amanda Knox Drama From This Is Us EP
Amanda Knox’s highly publicized wrongful murder conviction is still getting the limited-series treatment at Hulu, but Margaret Qualley won’t be playing her.
The Maid star has dropped out of the as-yet-untitled, based-on-a-true-story drama, according to our sister site Deadline. The exit is reportedly due to scheduling issues; the role will be recast. Qualley’s casting was first announced last month.

The project will chronicle Knox’s incorrect conviction for the murder of her roommate, Meredith Kircher, when they were foreign students living in Italy, as well as Knox’s “16-year odyssey to set herself free,” per the official logline.
The series was created by K.J. Steinberg (This Is Us, Mistresses), who will executive-produce alongside Warren Littlefield (The Handmaid’s Tale), Monica Lewinsky, Chris Robinson, Knox and others.
Knox spent nearly four years in an Italian prison before being acquitted in 2015. Her story soon made its way to the small screen: The Lifetime movie Amanda Knox: Murder on Trial in Italy came out in 2011 and starred Nashville‘s Hayden Panettiere as Knox. In 2016, Netflix released Amanda Knox, a documentary about her story.
