Mum's shock over husband's 'manipulative' passport act
A furious mum has cancelled her family trip after she discovered her husband hid her daughter's passport in a vindictive act.
Explaining the situation on Reddit, the mum said she had been with her husband for three years and he has three children from a past relationship while she has a 17-year-old daughter.
The mum said she booked a trip for the entire family after her husband complained her daughter did not spend enough time with him or her step-siblings.
"She does her best to spend as much time with them as she can. But she on the other hand complains that her stepdad tells her to basically take on the role of a babysitter whenever she's with her step-siblings," the mum said.
"My husband denied that and said that my daughter was making up excuses to not have to spend time with his kids."
The mum thought the family holiday would be a perfect opportunity for them to all spend time together, however her husband said his kids were "uncomfortable" being around her daughter because of her "attitude".
The woman said she booked the family trip anyway, but the plans began to unravel when her daughter could not find her passport.

"We turned the house upside down looking for it but couldn't find it," the mum explained.
"My husband said maybe it was a sign from God that we should let her stay home so the trip wouldn't turn into a disaster.
"I ignored his comment but later while I was cleaning his office I found the passport tucked away in the third drawer under a tonne of papers. I was floored by this."
The woman said she confronted her husband but he denied knowing how it got there. The savvy mum however checked an upstairs camera and discovered he had gone into her daughter's room.
"I screamed my head off at him then cancelled the whole trip completely. He started arguing saying I overreacted and that he didn't want his kids to be 'miserable' on the trip."
The woman said her husband then became "cold and distant" and claimed she had displayed "disrespect and control".
People commenting on the post were shocked by the husband's sneaky behaviour, with one saying he was "manipulative".
"You need to take time to consider that your husband 1) stole, 2 ) lied, 3) gaslit you, and 4) is trying to control your and your daughter’s behaviour," one said.
"Not only did he steal, but he lied about it too," another commented.
"Forget cancelling the vacation, you should be cancelling the whole marriage," a third added.
"Book a trip for just you and your daughter," somebody else urged.
