A man has been arrested after he allegedly boarded a plane using someone else’s ticket.

According to a federal complaint obtained by PEOPLE, a man named Wicliff Yves Fleurizard allegedly boarded a Delta flight from Salt Lake City, Utah to Austin, Texas on Sunday without a valid ticket. Documents state that Fleurizard, who is a resident of Austin, was exhibiting odd behavior when he entered the plane. He faces one felony count of stowaways on vessels or aircraft, according to the complaint.

“After boarding was complete and just before the aircraft doors were secured, Fleurizard exited the front lavatory and made his way to the back of the aircraft and entered the aft lavatory,” according to the complaint. “Fleurizard exited the back lavatory and a flight attendant noticed that there were no seats available on the plane and so the flight attendant approached Fleurizard to assist.”

The complaint continues, “Fleurizard indicated to the flight attendant that his seat was 21F. The flight attendant verified that the passenger who was in seat 21F was the individual who had purchased and had been ticketed for that seat, and it was not Fleurizard.”

After realizing that Fleurizard was not registered for Delta Flight #1683, flight attendants searched the “Guest Service Tool,” which showed that Fleurizard did not have a ticket for any Delta flight.

He was then removed from the aircraft and interviewed by police.

Upon further investigation, authorities noted that a minor girl who was traveling alone had been experiencing issues with her boarding pass, which said she was already on the flight when she scanned it at the gate.

“Surveillance footage of the boarding area was reviewed, and it showed Fleurizard in the boarding area taking photos of multiple passenger’s phones and/or boarding passes while they were not looking, including the minor female passenger,” the complaint read. “The footage also shows Fleurizard using his phone as a boarding pass when he enters the plane.”

After being read his rights, the complaint notes that Fleurizard claimed he used another ticket after he was unable to get on his previous flights following a ski trip and needed to make it back to his family from Florida.

He allegedly had been using a non revenue buddy pass for a Southwest flight, but the airline rebooked him multiple times because they did not have enough seats.

“Fleurizard admitted he had made a mistake and was only trying [to] get home,” documents claim.

In a statement to PEOPLE, a Delta spokesperson confirms the investigation: "Delta is cooperating with law enforcement and relevant federal agencies regarding an investigation into a non-ticketed individual being escorted off DL1863 on March 17 in Salt Lake City prior to a scheduled departure."
