The major thing you've been doing wrong during a heat wave
It’s that time of year again, where everyone in Australia is slogging away in the heat, desperately trying to find any way possible to cool down.
For many people a go-to remedy to combat the heat is chugging down an ice-cold glass of water.
However, it appears we may have had it all wrong.
Drinking ice-cold water can seriously mess with your digestive system, according to a 2015 report by the European Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Research – and that’s definitely not something you want to have to deal with on a scorching hot day.
“Unlike hot water, processed cold water is devoid of many essential minerals that could become very unfavourable to the digestive tract when consuming a meal,” the report states.
In fact, temperate water helps flush out many toxins in your body and helps keep everything working as it should.
Of course, this is not the news you’ll want to be hearing on a hot day or night.
Not to worry we have a solution, if you don’t have immediate access to aircon you can put the ice you would’ve used in your cold glass of water to use, paired with your trusty fan.
By putting a glass of ice – or a bucket depending on how hot it is – in front of your fan, the coolness from the ice will blow wherever you wish, most likely on yourself. #Winning.
If not, a good ol’ trip down to the local pool or beach always does the trick, but we can’t guarantee everyone else won’t be having the same exact idea.
We wish you luck in this very humid heatwave.
