The groom also reportedly sent a second photo in another group chat mocking his TV wife by pulling his eyelids back to look “like an Asian Mishel”.

Steve was eventually forced to address the images and apologised in a statement through Channel Nine.

“This is a private message that was never intended to be made public but I can see that it is culturally insensitive and I regret it,” the statement read.

“I am deeply sorry if I have offended anyone.”

MAFS groom reveals shocking secrets about the show

The show has already seen its fair share of controversy with Married At First Sight groom Drew Brauer recently spilling some juicy secrets from behind the scenes.

Speaking on hit105 Brisbane, Drew opened up about everything from how producers approached him for the show, to those awkward editing fails on the show.

Drew admitted Channel Nine producers contacted him by phone and asked him to appear on the show, saying he’s also been asked in the past to appear on The Bachelor and Survivor.

“I got a call, it’s weird I get calls or emails from a lot of the shows so they must just have me in this pool or whatever and they can stop calling me after this one,” he said.
