Four Married at First Sight cast mates are reportedly in hiding amid serious fears for their safety after the series’ explosive reunion episode.

Ines Basic, Martha Kalifatidis, Jessika Power and Dan Webb were forced to seek shelter at properties in rural Queensland in a desperate bid to dodge backlash from the public.

The seemingly-drastic move follows the reality stars’ collectively controversial behaviour throughout the season – which was dominated by cheating scandals.

“This year the level of threats and hate has been unprecedented,” an on-set source told Daily Mail Australia.

“Although most of (the violent threats) have no credible basis and are just trolls on social media, producers are really worried the reunion may push some viewers over the edge.”

“They are prepared right now for an intense public backlash against some of the participants.”

Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

In last night’s reunion dinner party episode, Martha shamelessly poured a glass of red wine on Cyrell Paule’s head, and admitted it ‘wasn’t a spur of the moment thing’.

The 30-year-old makeup artist said Cyrell had been getting to her throughout the night, especially as she pointed out her ‘fakeness’ to husband Michael.

What eventuated was a physical tiff between the women, before Martha memorably called Cyrell ‘trash beyond anything (she) knows’.

Earlier in the season Jess and Dan sparked controversy for leaving their onscreen spouses in favour of each other – something Ines tried to do with Sam Ball, before it ultimately fell apart.
