MAFS star Mike tells Jess: 'I was prepared to make you feel uncomfortable'

They haven’t seen eye-to-eye throughout the experiment, and Married At First Sight’s Jessika Power and Mike Gunner were at loggerheads once again tonight.

“What was said was said, it was regrettable,” Mike told Jess, referring to the explosive showdown at the last dinner party where he bombarded her with questions about her Mark and Ning remarks.

But while Mike said he wanted to now put it all behind them, he still managed to shamelessly admit to her that he’d purposely tried to publicly ‘humiliate’ his co-star and ‘make you feel uncomfortable’.

“At the dinner party, I felt like it got to the point where you were just insulting me,” said Jess.

“It was just nasty and I don’t want us… it shouldn’t be like that with one another.”

“To be fair, I guess I kind of wanted to hold you accountable for what you’d said,” responded Mike.

“I’d heard you mention that Mark never really liked Ning. I felt like it was a good forum to kind of expose a little bit about that and see if you were adult enough to accept the criticism and accept the responsibility for your actions.

“I wanted you to feel publicly held to account for your words.”

“Like humiliated?” Jess tried to clarify, to which Mike replied, “Yeah, you could put it like that.

“Sometimes it’s those more humiliating moments that you really do learn from. I don’t think there’s much we can do to take it all back. I think we should put it behind us.”

But it didn’t stop there, as Mike reiterated to Jess that ‘it was high time you’d face the music’.

“Do you not think I’ve faced the music enough in front of our peers?” a frustrated Jess asked.

“No, I think you’ve ducked and weaved really well and I thought it was time I took you down a peg.”

In a piece-to-camera, Jess told the producers exactly what she thought of Mike, and shared some empathy for his wife, Heidi.

“Heidi deserves better than Mike,” she said.

“Mike’s a manipulative person. He’s very good with his words. He knows how to slither his way out of things and I feel Heidi sits up on the couch all the time going, huh?”

“I was prepared to make you feel uncomfortable. I suppose that was part of it,” Mike then confessed as we continued to see their conversation play out.

“Do you not see that as a nasty act?” a shocked Jess hit back.

“Yes and no, I feel like it was justified in the moment,” he said.

Is being nasty ever really justified, Mike?

“It might’ve been a mistake but we’ve all made mistakes in this thing, you as much as I have and perhaps we’ll all learn a lesson from this,” the 41-year-old continued.

“Whatever lesson he thinks I’ve supposedly learnt, I haven’t,” 26-year-old Jess then told producers.

“You’re just an old man yelling at a young female.”

We wonder what Jessika’s new man, Dan Webb thinks of all this drama.
