MAFS' Michael makes outrageous comparison between the show and coronavirus

He's known for his outlandish analogies, but this one might be the strangest for Married At First Sight's Michael Goonan, who has just compared the social experiment to coronavirus.

In an interview with Nova's Chrissie, Sam and Browny, Michael made the outrageous comparison between MAFS and social distancing measures in place for coronavirus.

When asked about how most of this season's biggest scandals took place behind the scenes, thus leading to explosive dinner parties, Michael likened it to people who ignore social distancing rules.

He said, “Picture coronavirus, you've got Scott Morrison telling you to stay at home and you've got everyone running around."

“People don't like to do what they're told sometimes, sometimes you sneak out, you know what I mean?”

He then called his fellow MAFS stars "20 of the most damaged people in society”.

“You picked 20 of the most damaged people in society and threw them into the experiment and (said) ‘there's the rule books guys, you failed at Tinder but succeed at this,’ come on!”

In another interview with Hit's Krysti and Bodge, Michael spoke about the cheating allegations about his 'wife' Stacey Hampton and another MAFS groom, Mikey Pembroke.

The allegations were revealed during the final reunion dinner party, but Michael was surprisingly cool calm and collected, telling the hosts he wanted to discuss the cheating privately.

“I said, ‘Are there any messages? Please tell me there are no messages.’ That was my opportunity to have her back,” Michael said.

At the dinner party, Stacey said there were no messages, but Mikey soon showed the group damning messages about him leaving her place the morning after.

It was clear Michael believed the text messages, but he didn't want to have a fight in front of everyone.

“When you’re in this journey with someone, you do have respect for them,” he said.

“She has two beautiful little boys. For me to out her and join in with the rest of the group wasn’t necessary.

“My decision was made then, (but) I stayed quiet,” he continued.

“I didn’t want to bury her, I let her keep her class, well, I tried to let her keep her class. And then we had the decision and we had the chat when we got back to the hotel that night.”

He told Chrissie, Sam and Browny that he told Stacey he would have been fine with it if she owned up to her mistake, but the lying was too much for him.

Michael added that there was no doubt in his mind that Stacey and Mikey had hooked up.

In exclusive video to Yahoo Lifestyle, Mikey took a polygraph test which proved he was telling the truth about his claims that he slept with Stacey.

Stacey hit back at the claims in another exclusive video to Yahoo Lifestyle, saying, "Nothing happened between Mikey Pembroke and I, no sexual relations, nothing. I can guarantee that and I can sit here and swear on anything."
