Married at First Sight stars Jules Robinson and Cam Merchant stole Australia’s collective heart when they fell in love and became engaged for real on the program earlier this year.

But now photos of the bride-to-be looking red-eyed have been published in Woman’s Day magazine, who claim the couple have hit a ‘rough patch’ in their whirlwind romance.

The couple had set the date for their real wedding on the one year anniversary of their TV wedding, but as the September day approached, they decided to postpone it.

"Nobody quite understands why they needed to be engaged and married all within a year of meeting each other," an unnamed ‘friend’ told the publication.

Attached to the report was a paparazzo snap of 38-year-old Jules looking sad while speaking on the phone in Sydney last week.

Wedding bells

However, despite this reported confidante speaking out about the couple, Jules previously told Yahoo Lifestyle that her nuptials were on hold for a very different reason.

“We were originally planning on getting married on our first anniversary [of their MAFS wedding] but it was too much too soon and we just thought ‘that’s not going to happen’,” she said last month.

“It was a romantic gesture and we booked a venue on that and ended up losing our $5,000 deposit but I just thought—yeah that’s not going to happen anymore.”

Instead, the couple were planning on pushing back their big day’s date to one later this year in a bid to enjoy each moment in the lead up.

“Obviously for our wedding it’s not going to be as big [as their high-profile engagement party] but it’s going to be a good night, that’s for sure,” she said at the time.

NW magazine also reported on Jules and Cam’s ‘wedding crisis’ on Monday, but they had another story altogether.

Their insider claimed the couple have booked a central Sydney venue for November 16, and that her MAFS co-star Melissa Lucarelli has been dropped as a bridesmaid.

Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Jules for comment.
