Reality star throws support behind Jack Vidgen's lip fillers decision
Since making his comeback to the spotlight with his appearance on The Voice, Jack Vidgen has faced a wave of criticism for his physical transformation.
The former AGT winner admits he’s had lip fillers, and now fellow reality star Jessika Power has spoken out in support of the 22-year-old’s decision to dabble in some cosmetic work.
Married At First Sight star Jess, who has also been trolled for her plump pout, urges people to not judge Jack for his lip fillers, and even encourages him to go bigger if that’s what he wants to do.
“You know what, if he wants to go and do like 30 mils in his lips because he wants to, all power to you babes,” the 27-year-old tells Yahoo Lifestyle Australia.
“I think it looks amazing. I love sexy big lips.”
Speaking about her own experiences, she says, “I do things to my body because I want to, because it makes me feel beautiful. Because I can look at myself and say, ‘You know what I feel like this makes me look pretty’.
“People in society these days, they just love to drag people down. They love it and it’s disgusting.
“What are we teaching our children – that it’s okay to ridicule someone because of they way they want to look?”
In an extraordinary claim, Jess also compares discrimination against race to criticism towards cosmetic facial work.
“People say racism is disgusting. Well you’re saying you don’t like somebody because of their skin colour, you don’t like someone because of their lips. It’s the same thing, it’s an insult,” she says.
“If that’s how they want to look, let them look like that.”
Jack Vidgen recently spoke out about his transformation since winning Australia’s Got Talent in 2011 at age 14.
“That’s the thing with me, over the years I’ve been looking for my identity,” he told Who magazine.
“I’ve been trying to find myself again and I’ve definitely experimented with filler... there’s no denying that.”
The Australian singer said he doesn’t see an issue with something like lip fillers, and encouraged people to do “whatever makes you happy”.
“To me, lip filler is like makeup, it’s like doing your hair... it’s not permanent,” he said.
In another interview he recently confirmed he hadn’t had any actual plastic surgery.
“I've never had plastic surgery or any surgery,” he told the Daily Telegraph, adding, “It's pretty obvious I've had my lips done with fillers”.
“These types of things [fillers] are common now, especially for people my age - it's not a big deal”.
