MAFS' Jess breaks silence on 'drink driving' video

Married at First Sight star Jessika Power has broken her silence after she appeared to film herself drink driving in a Snapchat story.

The newly-single contestant made the in-depth apology on Instagram after footage of her swerving her vehicle on the way to a bottle shop was leaked to the public.

“I have an overwhelming need to apologise about that video,” she wrote on Instagram, adding “There is no way I would go out in public, let alone drive a car if I was that ‘drunk'”.

In the clip, Jessika is seen to have one hand on the car’s wheel while the other holds the camera – an offence which can result in a $341 fine and three demerit points in Queensland, where the video was reportedly taken.

Other antics included impromptu screams into the camera and continual suggestions to her passenger – reportedly Jess’ aunt Rebecca Clair – that they should go to the pub.

“Uncle Riley is right next door to us… and if he knew that we were going to drink and drive and get cigarettes, we’d be in that much trouble,” Jessika said.

“Ah s**t! I’m in the middle of the road.”

Despite slurring many of her quips, Jess was adamant she wasn’t under the influence, and claimed the night’s only alcohol consumption was two glasses of wine, hours before she got behind the wheel.

“Can I firstly explain that I was not intoxicated in the video, yes I had two glasses of wine at dinner,” she wrote as part of the apology.

“My auntie and I often play around in videos and it was a fun side of me that I wanted to share.

“As anybody could see I am completely over exaggerating my words and actions in front of the camera.”

The explanation came amid more of Jess’ erratic behaviour in the clips which saw her divulge her emotional state following her split with Dan.

“We’re not responsible adults. I am going through a f***ing breakup!” she revealed to the camera.

But her aunt was quick to quip back to Jess’ revelations and pleaded, “Well I am responsible so put your phone down.

“Get your phone off right now because I’m not being done by police,” Rebecca added, seemingly well aware of the potential legal ramifications of her niece’s behaviour.

Jess’ apology follows her ex-boyfriend Dan’s revelation that the pair’s relationship had ended after their explosive Talking Married interview following the series’ dramatic finale last week.
