MAFS fans outraged after the show is cancelled in the US: 'WTF'

MAFS Australia stars have fans all around the world, which is why American audiences were left shocked when cable channel Lifetime decided to cancel the show despite a huge 300,000 viewers tuning in every week.

Lifetime bought the rights to the Channel Nine show in 2020 and also airs the US version of the show.

However, when excited viewers went to watch an episode last month, they found the show was no longer airing during its usual time slot and had instead been moved to the network's streaming app.

No explanation was given for the change, leaving fans very angry that they would have to go elsewhere for the show, despite already paying for the channel.

Many fans accused Lifetime of trying to force viewers onto their app with some saying they only had the channel to watch MAFS and would be abandoning the network.

"Your app is terrible," one angry viewer wrote. "WAY too many ads. I absolutely hate it. I won’t be watching #MAFSAustralia next season, because I don’t want to get hooked on a show just to resort to having to watch the 2nd half of the season on the Lifetime App."

"So p***ed 😡 that I can’t watch on Lifetime anymore. Done!" another tweeted.

"No one asked for this," a third said.

"Un-freaking-believable!!!" another angry viewer wrote. "I literally cannot believe that Lifetime has taken MAFS Australia off their regular cable TV channel in the middle of the God damn season!! I freaking hate this streaming crap...just give me regular TV 😤 for God's sake!!"

"So mad!!! I hate all these apps I just want to watch tv!!!" someone else agreed.

"What’s with taking the best show off TV?" one user added.

"Whoever was in charge of this decision should pull their head from their lower end. BRING IT BACK," another fumed.

While 300,000 viewers per episode may not be much compared to Australian and UK audiences, it is practically unheard of for a show made outside of the US to do so well.

When the show first aired in the US, viewers were divided with some slamming the lack of diversity.

"No POC [people of colour]. I won't be watching," one viewer wrote.

"Are there no Spanish, Black or Asian people in Australia?" another questioned. "Every season they all look the same."

"I was thinking the same thing... They're all white with perfect bodies and lip fillers. No diversity whatsoever," a third agreed.

While some suggested that it was simply the 'demographics' in Australia, others argued that producers should do more.

Some viewers even jokingly questioned whether any Australians have "real lips".

Other viewers complained about the background music, saying they couldn't hear what was actually going on, with one user joking, "What's with the melodramatic songs? It's marriage, not war."

Another said they couldn't understand the Australian accent, "I can't keep up with what they're saying with the accent."

While many criticised the show, others shared their love for it, with one user writing, "Love this show! The process [is] so much better than the U.S. version."

"So much better than the U.S. one. It's obviously scripted but the drama makes it worth watching. The U.S. one pretends to be 'real'. Such a bore," another said.

"Can't wait. This is my favourite show. The Aussie version is by far, 150 per cent better than the U.S. version," a third wrote.
