'Kochie made it up': Martha's MAFS co-stars defend her in Logies 'elbow-gate'
Married At First Sight star Martha Kalifatidis’ co-stars Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson have weighed in on ‘elbow-gate’.
According to Cam and Jules, Sunrise star David ‘Kochie’ Koch’s claim that Martha ‘elbowed’ him at the 2019 TV Week Logie Awards is far from the truth, and very much ‘made up’.
In a video published by Daily Mail Australia on Friday, Jules said: “No one elbowed anyone at the Logies. I don't think anyone got elbowed. I think it's a made-up story”.
“We've all been in this experience together. It was unique and we've all got to support each other,” Cameron added, speaking of the importance to back co-star Martha.
“Who knows what happened,” he added, questioning if there was actual footage of the claimed incident.
The tiff between Kochie, Sunrise co-host Samantha Armytage and MAFS’ Martha has escalated throughout the week after the Logies on Sunday night.
MAFS star Martha’s Logies feud with Sunrise host Kochie
On Monday the Sunrise hosts had claimed the MAFS star ‘elbowed’ Kochie at the Logies held at The Star on the Gold Coast.
“I've still got bruises in the ribs from the Married At First Sight woman who elbowed me on the way through on the red carpet!” Kochie told Sunrise viewers.
“The one with the dark hair? She was fierce,” newsreader Natalie Barr then said.
“Someone is saying Martha in my ear?” Sam Armytage chimed in. “I could not pick her out of a lineup, but my God she got you in the ribs.”
“Do not get between Martha and the camera,” sports reporter Mark Beretta added, to which Sam responded, “Especially when you've only got 15 minutes of fame!”
MAFS star Martha hits back about Logies ‘elbow-gate’
On Wednesday night Martha posted a new clip on her Instagram account, in a bid to set the record straight with her ‘truth’ about the apparent red carpet incident.
“I'm a person and I have feelings and Sam and Koch have caused me so much stress and anxiety these past few days and I just feel like it's so unnecessary, like for what, for ratings?” the reality star said in the candid video.
“It's at the expense of my wellbeing and it's not fair.”
Martha, who is still with MAFS husband Michael Brunelli in real life, went on to say the backlash she’s received is unnecessary, and that she didn’t ask for this feud to ignite in the first place.
“He [Kochie] just thinks that because I was on a reality TV show and I'm a reality TV star that I don't deserve to get an apology from him or perhaps that I'm beneath him,” she told her followers.
“They've continued to mock me every morning on their show and I just feel like that goes to show you that they're no better than the thousands of trolling messages I've received over the last few months.”
Kochie is a no-show on Sunrise
Kochie was absent from the Channel Seven breakfast show on Friday.
Co-host Samantha Armytage was joined by newsreader Natalie Barr to anchor the network’s morning ratings success, while Edwina Bartholomew covered most of the news bulletins.
Yahoo Lifestyle has contacted Channel Seven for comment regarding Kochie’s absence.
While he wasn’t on Sunrise, Kochie still managed to do a live cross to Adelaide-based sports radio station SEN SA 1629 on Friday morning to speak about the Port Adelaide Football Club, which he is the chairman of.
