MAFS' Al tipped for lucrative TV career in the UK following popularity

From dancing the worm at his wedding to doing shoeys at dinner parties, there’s no denying that Al Perkins has provided plenty of entertainment on this year’s season of Married At First Sight.

And while the 25-year-old carpenter has quickly become a fan favourite participant in Australia, he’s also received plenty of attention in the UK.

With the show currently airing simultaneously overseas on British broadcaster E4 for the first time, it’s reported that talent management companies and casting producers in London are keen to snap up the breakout star as soon as the season wraps and he's out of contract.

One British casting producer tells Yahoo Lifestyle: “Al is made for reality TV and a natural fit for most UK shows, where there's big money to be made.”

“It'd be great to try to get him some kind of cameo on Geordie Shore where he could teach the gang 'shoeys' and how Aussies party, and Celebs Go Dating bosses are also interested in potentially signing him for a future season.”

It’s also said that Al could also rake in tens of thousands of dollars through personal appearances and club tours if he does get over to the UK and capitalise on his profile as soon as the show wraps on TV.

It comes after fellow MAFS star Jessika Power - who rose to fame on season six in 2018 and later competed on Big Brother VIP - moved to the UK in 2021 to further her reality TV career.

Earlier this year she starred on Celebs Go Dating and proved popular with British audiences, and there are now plenty of rumours that she is being considered for both I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and Love Island.

Michael Goonan and KC Osbourne, who made their TV debut on season seven of MAFS in 2019 and briefly dated after filming wrapped, are two Australian stars who have also taken their reality TV careers international.

The pair are set to appear on the next season of Celebrity Ex On The Beach after flying to Colombia for filming late last year.
