Luke Grimes and Kelsey Asbille Reflect on Playing Yellowstone's "Good People"

We’ve only seen one episode of Yellowstone Season 5B and from the drama that’s already ensued, we’re ready to see our favorite characters reveal a whole new side of themselves. While it’s easy to envision Beth Dutton going absolutely feral and Rip Wheeler unleashing utter hell, it’s more difficult to conceive the ways in which Kayce and Monica will seek justice for John Dutton. The reason for that? Up until this point—save for Kayce’s military background and the occasional good-samaritan, vigilante slaying—the couple operates on a calm, no-nonsense, family-first dynamic. In fact, that’s what Luke Grimes (Kayce) and Kelsey Asbille (Monica) have enjoyed so much about filling their Yellowstone roles.

They're both really good people, I think that's been nice,” Luke tells Country Living, and Kelsey agrees. “We know that no matter what's going on, like deep down, they just both have really good hearts and really good souls, and what they're after is so pure—they just want a happy life with love and family. And to play that is so nice, you know? There's not an evil bone in either Kayce or Monica's bodies.”

Of course, now that the family patriarch has been murdered and framed for suicide, that could all change. Or, it’s their very good nature and devotion to their family and ranch living that could set them up as the new guardians of Yellowstone.

“The ranch will belong to Kayce then it will be in Tate’s hands,” one fan predicts on Instagram. “Kayce deserves the ranch for his family. Rip and Beth can live there at the big house. Jamie will be in the train station. Done,” another fan predicts.

How do you think the return of Yellowstone will evolve over the next five episodes? Tune in Sunday nights at 8 p.m. ET on Paramount Network to find out.
