Ludacris Debates Whether August or September Virgos Are Better — Here's What an Astrologer Says
'I love being a Virgo. I wouldn't have it any other way,' Ludacris tells PEOPLE exclusively of his sun sign
Virgo is all about the facts and Ludacris lives true to his sun sign.
The 46-year-old rapper, born on Sept. 11, took to Instagram on Aug. 23 to jokingly clarify the distinction between August and September Virgos as the zodiac season officially kicked off on Aug. 22.
In the video, he gives followers a humorous take on the “differences” between both individuals, clearly biased in favor of September Virgos like himself.
“August Virgos bring a dynamic blend of expressiveness and practicality, influenced by Leo-Virgo cusps energies,” the rapper said, “September Virgos, on the other hand, embrace meticulous organization and analytical prowess, benefiting from Mercury’s influence.”
Not too shabby, Luda! Virgos are indeed ruled by savvy Mercury, making them one of, if not the most analytical and methodical signs in the zodiac. Unsurprisingly, the rapper, whose real name is Chris Bridges, was born with a Virgo sun and Mercury himself.
There is, however, no such thing as a “cusp” in astrology. Each zodiac sign occupies 30 degrees within the zodiac wheel — between zero and 29 degrees — so if your birthday lands towards the end of an astrological season, you are not a “cusp.” The sun was either transiting the last degree of a zodiac sign (which is 29) or the first degree (which is zero) at your time of birth.
“Basically, what I'm trying to say is,” the rapper quips, “August Virgos never shut the f--- up and don’t really care about anyone else’s opinions or thoughts on anything.” He continues, “September Virgos are relatively quiet in a new setting and good listeners, slightly stubborn, but they try to connect more with others.”
Is there actually a difference between August and September Virgos? The short answer is yes, but the reasoning behind this is more intricate. Just as the elements and modalities separate the signs into different groupings, each zodiac sign has three decans, which provide a deeper insight into your astrological traits. These decans divide the 30 degrees of each zodiac sign into 10-degree segments, each ruled by a different planet.
Virgos born between Aug. 23 and Sept. 2 are part of the first decan, which is ruled by Mercury. Those born between Sept. 3 and Sept. 12 are part of the second decan, governed by Saturn. Lastly, Virgos born between Sept. 13 and Sept. 22 are part of the third decan, which is ruled by Venus.
Ludacris was born with his sun at 19 degrees of Virgo, so the rapper would be surprised to learn that being born at the end of Virgo’s second decan — occupying between 10 and 20 degrees of this Mutable sign — means his Virgoan essence is more Saturnian than mercurial, thanks to its sub-ruler Saturn. This means the rapper falls under the decan of Virgos, who are more ambitious and stern.
When it comes to his most Virgo trait? Ludacris tells PEOPLE exclusively it's "overthinking."
"That's definitely the best. That's my Virgo trait. Overthinking every damn thing. Sometimes you just got to let it go. But my overthinking can be a good thing sometimes and it can be a bad thing sometimes. It can hinder progress and a lot of times it can be the ally of progress as well. It's twofold."
There's no denying that the rapper is a Mutable sign as they are clever and multifaceted. When asked if there was another astrological sign he'd want to be if it was not a Virgo, he held his ground.
"Oh, no. Hell no. I would never go against my Virgo brothers and sisters like that and remotely say that I would want to be another sign," he says. "No, I can't do that. I would not do that to my Virgo family. That would be deception."
This is no surprise as Earth signs are known for being incredibly loyal, and Virgo's devotion and dutiful nature are no exception.
"If I were to remotely tell you that I wanted to be another sign, the entire Virgo nation and community would disown me," the rapper added. "I definitely do not. I love being a Virgo. I wouldn't have it any other way."
