Luar's SS25 Beauty Made '90s Sculpture and Structure Cool Again

Raul Lopez knows New York, and his Spring/Summer 2025 show was an ode to growing into himself in the great city. With sculptural and over-the-top couture-like pieces and fun, kitten heeled boots, the brand knew how to have fun and look good at the same time. This season, models such as Alex Cosani and Calum Harper walked the runway, with superstar guests like Bad Gyal, Ice Spice and Madonna in attendance.

For hair, celebrity stylist Evanie Frausto from Tresemmé was inspired by the 'dark fairy' aesthetic that Luar brought center stage, utilizing big, structural extensions that could be glued onto the hair. First, the hair was pulled into a high ponytail and pinned back using the Freeze Hold Hairspray and Mega Control Gel. This ponytail was split into two sections and then wrapped around the head. This was meant to mimic a '20s swoop, with some models getting their formed hair extensions coated in resin pinned to the head.

"The inspiration behind these looks is Luar itself. I’ve been working with the brand for a few seasons and together we’ve been able to create this hair world based in sculptural, glassy design which pairs so well with the Tresemmé Freeze Hold Hairspray and Mega Control Gel," said Evanie Frausto, Celebrity Stylist for the brand, in a press statement.

For makeup, Luar partnered with none other than MAC Cosmetics artist Yadim Carranza to bring the designer's vision to life. For the face, Carranza prepped the skin with MAC's Hyper Real Serumizer and MAC Fix+. After this, he massaged in the Face + Body Foundation. Then, concealer blemishes was applied before contouring the cheeks with MAC's Sculpt + Shade palette and highlighted using the Pure White Paintstick. Special appliques were placed onto the brows and eyes that were made from fabric from the collection, taken from Luar's studio.

Some models also had the brand's Pure White Paintstick painted onto the lids as well as the brushback liner for a winged effect. After this, the Fascinating Eye Kohl was placed onto the lower waterline and lash line. Some of the models' brows were blocked with glue and concealed. Finally, a concealer lip was contrasted against a glossy black lip, depending on the look picked out for each person walking the runway.
