Perhaps you first fell in love with Kahlúa as part of the Mudslide or Bushwacker you sipped in a decadent dessert drink. Or maybe you’re familiar with the coffee liqueur’s current renaissance in Espresso Martinis and their countless variations, like our too-tasty-to-miss Frozen Salted Espresso Martinis. If you’re a next-level traveler, you may have stirred it into a Multi-leg Martini (one of 9 in-flight cocktails to mix onboard to dramatically improve your next flight) and made all your seatmates jealous. Even if you don’t imbibe or have never drank a drop of Kahlúa itself, if you enjoy the aroma of a cup of coffee, we may have just discovered your new go-to scent.

Absolut Vodka and Kahlúa (often paired in an espresso martini) are releasing a new “Blend No. 83” fragrance. The moniker is a hat tip to the fact that the first espresso martini was believed to be served in 1983.

This is far from the first time that a large food or drink company has made scents available for purchase to allow devoted diners and drinkers the opportunity to celebrate their favorite products in a new way. McDonald’s debuted Quarter Pounder-scented candles, and Dairy Queen’s Blizzard candles made sweets lovers swoon. Then in 2022, Shake Shack combined the best of both sweet and savory worlds in their “Shake and Fries” scented candle.

While few people would likely love to smell like a fast food restaurant all day, Kahlúa says that this fragrance was inspired by a survey that found a whopping 91% of drinkers want to order an espresso martini cocktail when they smell coffee or espresso.

Kahlúa’s limited-edition body spray comes packaged in a martini coupe glass-shaped bottle and is said to showcase dark chocolate, sugarcane rum, arabica coffee, velvet foam, and night musk notes. According to a press release, Blend No. 83 hits the “senses with silk richness just as if sipping an espresso martini.”

If you’d like to smell like “silk richness” or are seeking a gift for your espresso martini-loving pal or plus one, online orders opened Tuesday, November 7, and shipping will begin on Black Friday. That means you can pop the bottle in plenty of time for the holidays.
