The hotly anticipated Love Island Australia premiered on Sunday night and it was met with, um, mixed reactions.
While there was definitely an audience who – for lack of a better word – suffered through it, Twitter was less than impressed.
If you didn’t watch it, we’ll break it down for you.
Five genetically blessed women in bikinis met five genetically blessed men without shirts on, and they had to couple up. The end.
One viewer described the show as “the low point in Australian Television history”.
It's a low bar but this is probably the low point in Australian television history. It's not fun trashy. It's just actual trash. #LoveIslandAU

While others wondered if they would regain their lost brain cells.
Off to bed in the hope the brain cells I just lost watching #LoveIslandAU some how replenish themselves.

Well that was fun but I don't think my brain can handle this 5 nights a week. #LoveIslandAU

#LoveIslandAU To any young women watching this please rest assured – dumb is not fun, stupid is not cute and good looks don't last for ever.

One user watched it for a loved one…
I was forced to watch 30 mins of #loveislandau because I didn't want to disturb my cat sleeping on my lap. The things you do for love.

…while another hoped for memory loss.

Some Tweeters applauded the ‘diversity’ of the show…

Is it just me or does #LoveIslandAU seem really fake in every sense?! What’s with the constant zooming in on boobs and butts?! Plastic, fake, barbie and ken dolls? Tv is really getting desperate for new reality shows! Blah!
— Rie (@Shh_RieRie) May 27, 2018
But others were straight-up unimpressed.

I am so appalled by #LoveIslandAU I’m not even going to justify a worthwhile tweet about it. Absolutely abhorrent.
— Georgia Love (@GeorgieALove) May 27, 2018
(Yes, that’s THE Georgia Love from TV’s other major dating show, The Bachelorette.)
While most of Australia was left reeling from Love Island, there were a few that were into it…
Okay I’m obsessed with this show already I can’t believe I’m not gonna have a social life and fail my exams #LoveIslandAU

— Madeleine Cook (@madeleinejc) May 27, 2018
Whether you loved or hated it, it was clear, the head of programming at 9Go won the night.
I HOPE WHOEVER DECIDED TO TAKE THE PISS AND SCHEDULE SAUSAGE PARTY TO SHOW AFTER #LoveIslandAU GETS A PAY RISE
