Love Island’s Maura Higgins shuts down All Stars casting rumour

Maura Higgins has addressed rumours that she's joining Love Island: All Stars.

Following the confirmation of an All Stars series, fans have been quick to speculate which former Islanders would be looking for another chance at love. However Maura has swiftly ruled herself out of the line-up, saying she now feels too "old" for the villa.

"I'm not sure how many times I have to answer this," she said during an Instagram Q&A.

"I'm never going to go back on to Love Island. Not because I didn't enjoy myself. It was such an incredible experience, it changed my life, it gave me the platform I have today."

She continued: "But I feel like I've done it once and I think once is enough and I'm a bit old for that... I just don't really want to go backwards, I want to look forward.

"Like not saying anything bad about people that would do it again but each to their own... Yeah, just not me."

An exact release date and official cast details are yet to be announced for the new spin-off, but it is expected to air in early 2024.

"It has been rumoured now for a while but we are thrilled to finally confirm that we are making Love Island: All Stars," Lifted Entertainment's creative director Mike Spencer said of the news.

"It's set to be a must-watch series seeing some of your favourite Islanders from across the years heading back to the stunning South African villa to once again 'graft' as their search for love continues."

The news of an All Stars season comes just weeks after the confirmation of the Love Island Games, which will premiere later this year and feature contestants from UK, USA and Australia editions of the show.

Meanwhile, Maura has recently been making waves across the Atlantic, working as a social ambassador for Love Island USA.

Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
