Los Angeles Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts Joins Ice Cube for ‘It Was a Good Day’ at World Series Championship Celebration
Ice Cube rocked Dodgers Stadium on Friday as the Los Angeles Dodgers celebrated their 2024 World Series victory in their home stadium after winning the championship in New York on Wednesday.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts joined the L.A. native rapper-actor-entrepreneur on the mound for a rousing rendition of “It Was a Good Day” with a few lyrical changes to reflect the Dodgers’ victory over the Yankees. Wearing a Dodgers jersey with No. 24, Cube opened the event with a hard-charging “Westside Connection,” also with lyrical tweaks to salute the Boys in blue: “Before any of you Yankees get hard/bow down when you come to our town” and “We ain’t no haters like you/Bow down to a team that’s greater than you — fool.”

Los Angeles Dodgers Clinch World Series in Game 5 Against New York Yankees
Thousands of Dodgers fans poured into the stadium Friday for the home town celebration of the franchise’s eighth World Series title, which includes the team’s early decades in Brooklyn. The 2024 victory also marked the Dodgers’ third World Series victory over the Yankees. The franchise last won the World Series in 2020, when the celebration was muted because of the pandemic.
The Dodgers clinched the title Wednesday night by coming back from a 5-0 deficit to score a 7-6 victory over the Yankees in Game 5. Thanks to the well-established West Coast-East Coast rivalry, the 2024 World Series was a ratings hit for Fox. Game 5 grabbed more than 18 million viewers, while the five games in the series averaged more than 15 million viewers — the biggest crowd for the fall classic since 2017.
