Woman saved after locksmith notices distressing note on hand

A locksmith has saved an alleged kidnapping victim after noticing a distressing note on her hand.

The locksmith had performed work on the woman’s door at her home in the US state of Utah when he noticed a note from her as he gave his invoice, according to a police report seen by CNN.

The report claims she had “911” written on her hand.

In the report, the locksmith said there was a man in the home who "acted suspiciously, staying close to the female and only allowing her to have her phone with his permission”.

The locksmith, known as Greg, told CNN he didn’t know the woman before he did work on her home.

Greg said she showed him her hand twice, but he was wearing a mask so he couldn’t mouth anything to her.

“I made eye contact with her, to basically let her know that yeah, I saw it,” he told CNN.

"Being a locksmith, I have been involved in some domestic situations, but nothing quite like this," he said.

Greg called police to the home. The woman alleges her ex-partner was jealous of a new relationship and had entered her home on Thursday without permission.

She further alleges he assaulted her, wouldn’t let her leave her home and took her phone.

The man’s been charged with aggravated kidnapping in the course of committing unlawful detention, criminal trespass and assault.

The locksmith said the woman was “pretty smart” to let him know in the way she did.

“She gave me some great clues that there was an issue there,” he told CNN.
