Grammy-nominated pop star steals the show in the NBA

If only we could all have as much fun at an NBA game as Lizzo did on Monday.

The pop superstar was a keen spectator for the Los Angeles Lakers big win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, which was headlined by a 50-point explosion from Anthony Davis.

Davis won the big man battle on the court with Karl-Anthony Towns, but the Timberwolves star can at least salvage a bit of satisfaction knowing that Lizzo was keeping a close eye on his game.

“Let me tell you something, both teams are great,” she said when she was interviewed from her courtside seats.

“I’m personally cheering for 32 (Towns).

“That’s my baby.”

Lizzo later admitted she’d never actually met the former number one pick.

The ‘Truth Hurts’ and ‘Juice’ star even put on a show for the crowd at one point, jumping out of her seat and dancing to one of her own songs when she was shown in the Staples Center jumbotron.

The crowd got more than they bargained for, when it was revealed Lizzo’s outfit had a little less fabric around the derriere than usual.

LeBron James' classy response to commentator's 'disrespect' claim

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has taken to Instagram to slam commentators who said his behaviour during their win over the Utah Jazz was ‘disrespectful’.

During a recent victory over the Jazz, James took the opportunity to gift his shoes to two young fans.

Unfortunately, the Utah commentary team didn’t pick up on the gesture. What they did pick up on was James’ courtside celebrations in the dying minutes, still in his socks on the sidelines.

“Look at LeBron, he’s on the court. What the heck is going on here?” one of the commentary team said.

Another chimed in to say James was taking the mickey.

“With no shoes, mind you. That’s some disrespect right there. Please.”

Crucially though, it was James himself who got the last word.

The three-time NBA champion took to Instagram to effectively dismiss the criticism, reminding his followers not to get bogged down in petty squabbles.

“Imagine doing your job at the highest level to where you’re not needed anymore, giving your shoes to a lil girl and boy who you inspire and hoped you made proud that night, then cheering on your teammates cause you love seeing them succeed more than yourself only to be criticised while doing it,” James wrote.

“People it’s the world we live in and you can’t let it ever stop you from your purpose in life.”
